Revolution Brewing Company
by Jim Vondracek on 03/03/11Nancy and I visited Revolution Brewing Company for the first time on a recent Thursday evening. Revolution is a brew pub and restaurant located in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood. The raised fist motif can be seen throughout Revolution, including the tap handles.
It's a great space, in a renovated older building with tall ceilings. While we waited for a table, we sat in the pleasant lounge area and visited with some of our fellow patrons about the beer list and the interesting descriptions of the beer selections. Revolution brews its beers in a 15 barrel onsite brewery.
Nancy ordered a Village Green English Bitter "a smooth, medium bodied, golden session ale with tremendous drinkability, brewed with English Northdown hops for an herbal, earthy aroma. A very approachable beer that won't drop the hammer on you! God save the Village Green. $5 pint (4.1% ABV)"
I ordered a First Year Beer "brewed with dark chocolate and black malts and hopped with Falconer's Flight hop blend. You might call this a hoppy porter or a black IPA, we call it a birthday present. $6 tulip (6.9% ABV)"
In addition to full servings, you can try 3 oz tasting servings of any of Revolution's artisanal beers. You can see a current beer list on their website at http://revbrew.com/beers The food was much better than average pub fare, I thought. I enjoyed the hombre burger with smoked poblano peppers.
You can visit Revolution at 2323 N. Milwaukee, they don't take reservations, and you can contact them for more info at michelle@revbrew.com
