Organic Light American
Hybrid Beer
"Drinkability" is the latest marketing phrase for Bud Light and it makes me laugh, because the way Bud is using it is as a synonym for "devoid of flavor" and because its not really a word. Its like Coors' marketing campaign "Taste the Cold". Cold isn't a flavor, you can't taste it.
Brewing a light beer is difficult though, commercially and especially for those of us who make handmade beers - because it is so light, with modest malt and hops, if there is a deficiency in the beer, its immediately apparent - there is nothing to cover it up.
So, Drinkability Isn't a Word is our attempt at a light beer. Its an ale, not a lager like Bud Light, and it uses high quality Pilsner Malt unlike the big guys. For this beer, we also used rice and beet sugar as adjuncts, which helps lighten the beer. We're pleased with the outcome - the beer is light, crisp, andrefreshing - a high leve of drinkability!
