This beer is very dry which makes it remarkably easy to drink, but at the same time it is a strong ale, with a 9.5% ABV. A well known commercial version of the style is Duvel.

Like many Belgian beers, this ale includes sugar in the recipe, which helps lighten and dry out the beer.  It also relies heavily on the yeast strains used for much of its flavor profile.
